Cum Shot

A cumshot is when a man ejaculates on someone's body. It could be any part of the body but particularly to the face. The cumshot adds a sense of realism to pornographic films, because unlike other aspects of the pornographic depiction, such as facial expressions or dialogue, it is physiological response and therefore it can't be faked (at least not without resorting to prosthetics and special effects). The ejaculation scene also performs a closure role in the simple narrative form of pornography.

The cumshot is visible proof that the man was able to ejaculate. No corresponding proof of a female orgasm is available: Actresses moan, groan, or scream at the time an orgasm is expected, but the viewer is often skeptical about whether she really had an orgasm. A few scenes are unusually convincing, but most are dubious. The cumshot is often referred to the money shot in a borrowing from mainstream feature filmmakers, who used the term "money shot" as slang for the image that cost the most money to produce; in addition, the inclusion of this expensive special effect sequence would become a selling point for the film.

According to Stephen Ziplow, in The Film Maker's Guide to Pornography , "...the cum shot, or, as some refer to it, 'the money shot', is the most important element in the movie and that everything else (if necessary) should be sacrificed at its expense."The "cum shot" has become such a common conclusion to scenes in pornographic movies that if a scene does not end with an ejaculation sequence, viewers may believe that the actor was unable to climax or that the scene was cut.
